An American Werwolf In Paris
Stars: Tom Everett Scott, Julie Delpy, Vince Vielluf, Phil Buckman, Julie Bowen
This is a sequel of sorts to An American Werewolf In London although apart from the name the similarity ends there.
Andy McDermott (Scott) and his friends Brad & Chris are on their first trip through Europe and are determined to have a trip to remember. In fact that they have called their journey the “Daredevil Tour” where different escapades score points and the more daring the act the more points are awarded.
Andy’s first trick in Paris is to bungy jump off the Eiffel Tower. As he is preparing to jump, Sarafin (Delpy) decides that she too is going to jump off the tower, only she wont be attached to a rope. Andy saves her life and at the same time falls madly in love but is going to get more than he bargains for with this girl. I know I’m not giving away too much of the plot by saying this but Serafin is a werewolf as is most of her family and pretty much everyone she knows for that matter.
Will Andy get infected? Will his friends survive? Will Serafin and Andy live happily ever after? These are all questions that you can only find out the answers to by watching the film.
The special effects are very good especially when compared to it’s predecessor although sometimes you reach a point where computer generated effects start to intrude and this is the case here. I’m starting to miss the good old days where make-up artists did all the work and time lapse photography was used…..sigh!
ENDING SPOILER : Don’t read any further if you haven’t seen the film!! You’ve been warned!

From memory the film ended with Andy and Serafin jumping off the Eiffel Tower as part of their marriage ceremony. Here the film ends in a hospital with Serafin HAVING just given birth to the baby. This is different right? Please email me to let me know at MagalieS_dvd@yahoo.com.au
With thanks to all the people who sent e-mails the correct answer is as follows : The theatrical and home video versions are different. The theatrical ending had them on top of the Statue of Liberty getting married, dropping the ring and jumping down after it. The dvd version ends with their baby being born looking really evil. As stated elequently by one reader “You would think they would’ve included both endings on the disc.”.
THE EXTRAS
* Special FX Crew Interviews : . John Grower VFX Supervisor (4:00 mins)- It is a continuation of the cast interviews. Annoyingly, it has been cut, which makes it a very disjointed interview. The screen behind him also flashes different scenes from the movies which it also very distracting. James Straus Animation Director (0:55 secs)- Much like the other interview it has been cut. The 2 interviews have been put together very badly.
* Interviews on Location: Cast and crew interviews with Director Anthony Waller, and actors Julie Delpy, Tom Everett Scott, Pierre Cosso, The Boys and Julie & Tom. Total Running time is 20:45 minutes. The interviews again have all been cut, which really was unnecessary, however, with that said they are interesting enough, especially the interview with the director on how the movie was created and why they created it in this way.
* Theatrical Trailers : There are 2 trailers to choose from with trailer 2 being the better of the two.
CONCLUSION
The first half of the film is excellent but ultimately the film falls flat as it takes itself far to seriously during the second half.
