Friday the 13th Part 2

STARS: AMY STEEL, JOHN FLURREY, ADRIENNE KING, KIRSTEN BAKER, STU CHARNO, WARRINGTON GILLETTE

An ill fated GROUP of camp counsellors has assembled for training just prior to the arrival of their charges for the summer. Paul (John Flurrey) is in charge of the camp along with his assistant Ginny (Amy Steel). Unbeknownst to them, the camp is located near the infamous Camp Crystal Lake, better known as Camp Blood where the first movie took place.

Unfortunately the story of Jason Voorhies has become local urban legend in these parts and curiosity gets the better of more than one counsellor. Of course these people should not be saving for the future as they are destined to die a grisly death with copious amounts of blood.

It’s been 5 years since the last trouble with Jason and the townsfolk would rather forget it ever happened. As a result the local police are not too concerned with satisfying the curiosity of the counsellors and basically ban anyone from visiting Camp Blood.

There isn’t a lot that is going to surprise you in this film, the majority of them will die but one will survive to continue the legend and allow for multiple sequels (the 10th in this series is about to hit our screens!).

Filled with horror movie staples we no longer see such as the log fire storytelling, this is a pure trip back to early 80’s horror.

THE EXTRAS

Theatrical Trailer: That’s it.

CONCLUSION

While these kind of films are downright tame compared to some of the fare we are now used to, it is always enjoyable to look back at the way horror films used to be…cheap and overacted which in any other movie style would be a criticism, in this film it is just part of it’s charm. In many ways the DISTINCT lack of audio and video quality also adds to the experience.
