The Tracker 2002

Staring: Casper Van Dien, Francoise Robertson, Russell Wong, Jason Blicker, Lexa Doig
Plot Synopsis
Kim Chang (Lexa Doig) is kindnapped from her home. Kim’s brother Rick (Russell Wong) approaches Connor Spears (Casper Van Dien) and asks him to help to find Kim. There is some history between Kim, Rick and Connor which I won’t go into here, but I’ll just say that Rick and Connor aren’t the best of friends any more, this allows for much verbal and sometimes physical sparing to go on between the two.
Rick and Connor fly to New York and enlist the help of a local cabbie, named Carman (Francoise Robertson) to ferry them around while they try to rescue Kim.
Insert numerous fight scenes, till conclusion of movie.
The Movie
This movie could have been so much more, but it just fails to deliver on almost all levels. The characters are so stereo typed and two-dimensional, it makes the actors come across wooden and amateurish - or maybe, the acting is just so average that it makes the characters appear two-dimensional. On a slightly more positive note, Francoise Robertson’s character (Carman) does provide some relief from our testosterone-laden and wooden main characters.
The music score is rather heavy handed it practically screams at you - in this seen you will feel sorrow, this scene is a fight scene, etc. The music is also too prominent (loud), it over rides the action that is taking place on the screen, so it becomes the centre of your attention instead of the visuals.
Many (if not nearly all) of fight scenes are just unbelievable. Characters take blow after blow that would put down an elephant and to top it all off you can almost (and in some cases can) see punches being pulled or not landing.
There are actually a couple of funny, even enjoyable moments in the film, but these are few and far between, so overall it all adds up to a rather painful and quite forgettable movie experience (well at least I’m hoping I can forget it).

Summary:
On so many levels this movie just disappoints, so unless you are really desperate to watch something or absolutely love one of the actors in this movie, I’d give The Tracker a miss.
