Carry On Nurse
Carry on Nurse is set in a hospital and follows the individual stories of eight men who are in the hospital for various reasons. It’s full of lots of funny little titbits that go on in a hospital. The hospital is full of stereotypes, the cranky Matron, the randy patient, the annoying patient, and not to forget the lovesick sister, the stupid staff nurse and the trainee nurse. For the time it was made is was a little risque. Set in a time when wives didn’t work and couples didn’t kiss in public, it is full of all the society forbidden rules. Too many little stories to list, and no real major story line as was the nature of the “carry on” series.
For all you Carry on Fans out there, there is finally a stack of the Carry on Movies available on DVD. I watched these years ago on the TV & used to really enjoy them. Unfortunately, like anything thing else they have dated a little, the humour and the underlying story is now not sophisticated enough to be the great laugh that they were. Times have changed so much since these were made that most of the tongue in cheek style comedic dialect is lost. Carry on Nurse got a bit boring and I found my attention wandered a few times. But overall it was an easy DVD to watch and provided nice, light entertainment for my lazy Sunday afternoon.
