Jungle Book 2

Well I am an unashamed fan of anything Disney does and this DVD just helped cement my bias! In “The Jungle Book 2″, the adventures of Mowgli the little orphan boy raised in the jungle by wild animals, continue and we get to see his man village and meet some of his new friends. Mowgli misses the jungle and his animal friends, and they miss him. He is struggling to fit in with the man village, with all the rules and structures and is homesick for the freedom of the jungle. When

Baloo the bear, Mowgli’s best friend, pays him a visit at the man village they escape together and return to the jungle without any

thought to the village or the people he leaves behind. Once in the Jungle Mowgli is in great danger and so are two of Mowgli’s human friends, who have followed him to the jungle to try to save him. Shere Khan The Tiger is hunting Mowgli, seeking revenge and Mowgli is forced to choose between his life and that of Shanti is friend from the village.

All the favourite characters make an appearance in the movie; Bugheera the panther, and Kaa the hypnotic man eating snake and of course the dancing monkeys and stampeding elephants. The animation is brilliant, it’s colourful and vibrant. The characters are fun and appealing to all ages, the story flows well and is easy to follow. It is a well done sequel and does not discriminate against those of you who have not seen the first Jungle Book Movie. I know its a cliche but this one is a movie for the whole family.

For jungle book fans its a “Must Have” Over all 4.5 stars - be nice to your kids get this one!

THE EXTRAS

These are FANTASTIC!!!!

Games

There is two games, which are full of animal facts kids are asked to pick the correct answer with the DVD remote. It is easy to navigate around the menu…… I mean EASY ! my 4 year old had no trouble with the navigating. The content is informative and was good entertainment vale. It took my 4 & 5 year old about 40 minutes to tire of these games and they have played them several times since.

Songs

These are fun, the options for subtitles means that older kids can read and sing along and removes all the “that’s not the words” arguments. Disney have always done musical sing along well and these are no exception.

Music Video

Nikki Webster singing “I wanna be like you” - well, of course this probably wont be a selling point………..

Deleted Scenes

These were boring- the producer and director explaining why they left out certain footage etc etc don’t waste your time here. The scenes were really only at a sketch level and not finished so maybe they should have taken the time to finish then if they were going to use them in here??
