Bushwhacked
This movie is slapstick humour at its best. Daniel Stern is brilliant as Max Grabelski a Fed-Ex delivery man who is set up to take the wrap for a money smuggling racket. After he is found at the scene of a murder, Max is ladled Mad Max by the FBI and goes on the run. Whilst on the run from the feds Max crosses paths with a scout leader, steals his car assumes his identity, and is horrified when he ends up taking 6 little scouts on their first camping overnighter in the bush.
The kids are so excited to be going camping and have heard all about the famous scout leader who is going to be taking them. Max realises this could be opportunity to prove his innocence by intercepting a package at a delivery point near the camping ground, and although at first it seems disastrous he soon ends up HAVING a great time with the kids. He is being chased by the feds and must try to keep the kids on the move without them getting suspicious.
There are some really funny moments in this movie, I watched it with my 4 kids aged 3 to 8 and we all had a lot of laughs. Stern has a great sense of comedic timing and he shines in this. There is lots of slapstick, poor Max is stung by a swarm of bees, falls of a cliff, gets hit by a falling rock, is mauled by a bear, etc etc etc. The kids administer first aid by the guidance of the Scout manual. The characters of the kids are well done, and they each come to the camp with their own set of problems, that Max will have to overcome if he is to get to the intercept point on time. It is these problems and Max’s reactions that provide many of the laughs.
A great family movie.
THE EXTRAS
