Sleeping Beauty

Beautiful Princess Aurora is being given her gifts of beauty, grace, and magnificent singing voice from the good fairies when Mouleficent the bad and un-invited fairy turns up to spread terror and pain on the small kingdom. She curses the young princess to die on her 16th birthday. The good fairies can only lesson the curse to a deep sleep and the only way to try to save Aurora is to let the fairies take the

princess Aurora to hide in the woods until after her 16th birthday.

We all know and love the story of Sleeping Beauty its something everyone grows up with, but as with everything Walt Disney touched once it became a Disney story it was special. No one tells stories better than Disney, and this was well worth the six years and six million dollars it took to make it.

This DVD comes in a special two disc set. The first disc has the Sleeping Beauty Movie and the second disc has bonus material, and not one second of either disc is disappointing. Magically re-mastered and restored to even better than its glory days of 1959 this is a great example of a Living classic! I just loved it!!!!!!!

THE EXTRAS

The Making of Sleeping Beauty- This is a short film with some footage of Walt Disney speaking of his masterpiece and is quite an interesting look at behind the scenes. It also carries some footage of the restoration of the film ready for re-issue on DVD.

Game: Rescue Princess Aurora- This was a tad too easy for my 5 year old but my 3 year old loved the challenge of it the game was easy to move through and the instructions clear and easy.

Ink and Paint- This was a bit frustrating because the colour had to be exact and I found it hard to “remember” which colour went where. But for small kids who are not easily put off it was OK.

Art Attack: how to make a castle - this was really cool and we have the castle to prove it! This is done by the people who make the SHOW called Art Attack, and has detailed instructions on how to make a castle out of stuff from around the home - really good fun.

Disc Two -

The story of Sleeping Beauty was a look at how the Disney team arrived at the story and there are interviews with cast and crew from both the original movie and the remake.

Production and design - more interviews and behind the scenes stuff. Mainly just the studio blowing their own trumpet.

Still Galleries- shows some still photo’s of the making of the movie and the painted sets.

Featurette of the film more of the same but good viewing.
