Joe Kidd

All the usual appeal of a great old western; gunfights, baddies that play dirty, action aplenty, and tough lawmen with eyes in the back of their head. Joe Kid (played by Eastwood) is a tough man who lives on the right side of the law (well nearly.) He is hired as a guide for a posse looking for a renegade Mexican named Charma. Charma has made claims on the farming land surrounding the town accusing the local court of stealing the rights of the traditional owners. Charma shot up the courthouse and caused havoc and is now on the run from the law.

The posse are vicious men run by a big land holder with a lot more to loose than a prisoner if Charma stays alive. Joe soon realises that the only thing distinguishing these men from murderers is the badge they carry. It’s not long before Joe makes a decision to go solo and bring Charma in alive to stand trial in a court of law.

This is a typical Clint Eastwood movie heaps of adventure. Where the bad guys are bad and the good are worse, & you know the good guys are tough enough to win and rough enough to be entertaining. The characters are typical of this type of movie and there are no surprises with the scenery or the story line, but it’s a good movie if you want to escape the drudgery of suburban life for 90 minutes.
