Stitch The Movie
For all young fans of Lolo & Stitch this is a must see. All the characters are back and the story of the experiments continue. We all know that Stitch was experiment 626, but I guess we did not realise that this meant that there was another 625 experiments each with special powers. Jumba is kidnapped by the evil Dr Hampsterveil and is held to ransom for the other experiments. Lilo and Stitch must; find the experiments, meet with Dr Hampsterveil and free Jumba. You think this sounds too easy? Well, bet you did not realise that the other experiments are Stitch’s family and for Lilo & Stitch, when it comes to family nobody gets left behind.
I found the story a little lame and boring, & the movie was lacking the “Disney magic”, but I watched it with my four children aged 8, 6, 4 & 3 and they LOVED IT!!! They sat glued to the screen to the very end and could wait to put it back on again and again and again. Which just proves there is no accounting for kids’ taste! The screen is alive with colour and whilst the dialogue is poor the animation is brilliant so it is easily forgiven. I just felt like the movie was rushed; it seemed as though, in their haste to get it to the store, Disney has left the character development and story line a little weak, which left me unable to feel any empathy for the characters. This is disappointing as its the character development that really makes a Disney movie, but like I said before its what my kids liked and I would recommend it, on the strength of their reaction.
Sadly for Elvis fans, there is only one Elvis song in this movie.
THE EXTRAS
Game Experiment Finder - Find the experiments and place them in the correct home, This was good - but probably not challenging enough for a child over 5 years. My 8 year old took just a few minutes to be through the whole game. My 4 year old really enjoyed the challenge.
Dr Hamsterveil’s Trivia Challenge- This was a good comprehension exercise to see if your kids were watching. Its a fun upbeat “test” type of game. But the put on fake accent by Dr Hampsterveil is annoying to say the least and this is not a game you could play more than a few minutes. My kids lost interest after one round.
Experiment Gallery. A quick run down on some of the experiments of Jumba & Dr Hampsterveil. This was good though it too suffered the same fate with Dr Hamsterveil’s stupid accent.
Music Video of Aloha, EKomo Mai- a great song, good beat, etc., but not one for a sing along the words are a bit hard for little kids to pick up. Nice bright film clip though.
