Joe’s Apartment

This is a really funny story about Joe, a boy from out of town who arrives in New York with his college degree and is ready to start his new life. He has to find a job and maybe even a few friends, but first has to find a place to live. Joe walks the streets of New York desperate to take anything in his price range and just when it seems he will have to give up he stumbles upon a controlled rental property. The tenant of this property has just died so Joe pretends to be her long lost son in ORDER to move in to her apartment.

The apartment is perfect for Joe; it’s cheap, run down, hasn’t been cleaned in years, and is infested with cockroaches. The cockroaches decide Joe is their type of guy and they befriend him, revealing that they can talk and dance. Everything is going along really well, until the cockroaches decide to help Joe with his career and all hell breaks loose when they try to help him with his love life.

This was a really funny movie in a morbid sort of way. It’s rated M & is not suitable for younger kids, but I think this may just be due to the some coarse language and a few drug references. The cockroaches are hilarious and poor Joe is totally at their mercy. This is not a movie that will win academy awards for acting or cinematography, but it is good for a laugh and some light entertainment. It was a pleasant change to find something a little “out there”.
