This is a tale of young love. Jesse and Celine had a chance meeting on a train journey, after only a few munites chatting they both realise that they have a connection. When the train stops in Vienna (Jesse’s Destination) Jesse throws caution to the wind and asks Celine to leave the train with him and spend his last day in Europe together. The couple explore Vienna and spend the time getting to know each other. They find themselves in a surreal time warp and do things they normally wouldn’t because they both know the experience will be over in 24 hours and they will both return to their own lives.

Total strangers, whose lives are poles apart, meeting and spending time together, with absolutly no chance of a future together, but falling in love anyway. The story is beautifully done and Ethan Hawke gives a great performance as Jesse.

This is a slow moving story totally void of adventure and action, so at times I found myself willing something to happen but for most of the movie I was able to be swept away with the beauty of Vienna and the pure romance of the story.

CONCLUSION

Jesse and Celine meet on a train journey and strike up a conversation, Celine is travelling back to Paris from a visit with her Grandmother, and Jessie is on his last day of a trip to Europe. Jesse asks Celine to spend his last 24 hours in Vienna with him. The whole movie is spent on this 24 hours as these two fall in love. Total strangers, whose lives are poles apart, meeting and spending time together, with absolutly no chance of a future together, but falling in love anyway.
