Piglet’s Big Movie

Hot on the heels of The Tigger Movie comes “Piglet’s Big Movie” so that Winnie doesn’t have all the fun. The film starts with the gang not letting Piglet in on their “big plan” to gather “hunny” because he is too small. Poor Piglet feels very neglected. I feel a song coming on. Enter “If I wasn’t so small”. Piglet is vertically challenged but he just wants to be needed by his friends.

As a result of not feeling wanted Piglet disappears from the Hundred Acre Woods. His friends only realize this when they are looking through a book of Piglet’s memories and realizes he isn’t there. Where can he be ? They decide to use the pictures in his memory book to try to find him and their quest begins.

Enter plenty of flash backs as they reminisce about the “big” part Piglet has actually played in their lives and the many expeditions he was a part of. He was responsible for them getting to know Kanga and Roo and he even saved Roo from a river on one occasion. What a hero !!! Piglet also shows his architectural skills by building a home for Eeyore. He’s talented too!

Piglet’s book is destroyed when Rabbit and Tiger fight over it. How can they find Piglet now ? What Disney movie would be without a happy ending? Not this one, that’s for sure. Pooh gets in to
trouble when he tries to get Piglet’s book back from near a river and guess what “little” guy turns up to save the day. Well, you will just have to watch it to see won’t you.

This film is the perfect length for the children as it is not too long. They should have no trouble sitting in front of the television for the 64 minutes this movie runs for (if you ignore the credits and song at the end). The film is certainly colourful to keep them amused as well and what child under five doesn’t love Pooh and his gang. The characters are adorable after all. There are a total of five new songs for the little darlings to sing along too once they know the words off by heart! This should be possible after the tenth or so viewing.

I must admit my two year old was probably a little young but give her a little more time and she will be requesting this movie as often as she does the Hooley Dooley’s and The Wiggles now. This is certainly a DVD I would recommend as a Christmas or birthday present for any child at or below school age and their parents will probably thank you heaps as they will have one hour of peace and relaxation.

I must also say that although this movie is entertaining, it is not as good as The Tigger Movie. The songs aren’t as boppy and the story line didn’t quite grab me as much as Tigger’s movie did. Tigger and Piglet have now had their own movies, surely an Eeyore movie can’t be too far away, can it?

This movie is the perfect length for toddlers and pre school children, not too long. They will certainly get a kick out of the movie and singing along with the five new songs in the film. There are good special features as well. The DVD can be inserted into the computer and you can print off pictures of the whole gang.
Length 72 minutes
