Sour Grapes
Evan is a successful surgeon; he works hard and is proud of his achievements. His cousin and best pal Richie is another story, he is happy to be nothing and bum around waiting for good things to come his way. On a trip to Las Vegas Richie and Evan are gambling and loosing and decide to play one last machine before they go home, Richie borrows two quarters from Evan and hits the jackpot.
It never occurs to Richie to share his win fall and this annoys Evan. Evan doesn’t need the money but he feels it’s the principle that matters and sets about making Richie share. The two men engage in a battle of revenge and retaliation and destroy each other like only best friends can. Absolutely hilarious vengeful stunts are played on each man, but this only seems to strengthen the resolve of the other man.
It’s not too long before the whole family is involved and then the whole neighborhood, spiraling out of control the two men totally loose sight of anything but the money and it seems they are willing to risk everything for a piece of the prize.
There are some really funny scenes in this movie and even though it’s an eighties flick and possibly a bit dated, the story and stunts are still good value. This is a DVD you could watch a few times and still have a few laughs, it was written and directed by Larry David, and Seinfeld fans will recognize this name and possibly some of the humor in the movie. A tongue in cheek look at family and friends in battle this DVD is well worth a look.
