The Man Who Haunted Himself

Pre James Bond, Roger more plays Mr Pelham a successful young executive with the perfect life including all the trimmings; a house in the suburbs, a beautiful young wife and two young sons. He is a creature of habit everything he does is without risk and very predictable. Everything changes when he is involved in a car accident and nearly dies.

On his return to work Mr Pelham starts noticing small incidents. People claiming to have spoken to him recently or to have seen him at places where he hasn’t been. He realises something strange is going on when a young woman claims to be having an affair with him. Mr Pelham is sure someone is trying to stalk him and ultimately take over his life, so tries to investigate this himself. But his stalker is always one step ahead. Pelham’s ultimate shock happens when he rings his own home and the butler offers to get Mr Pelham for him. Pelham must use all his wits to try to find out what exactly is going on.

This was an odd story and although it all flowed nicely it was a little bit hard to grasp at the start. I dont want to give too much away and “spoil” the ending so this will be short and sweet. The movie is reasonably old and void of any special effects so I guess if it was made today it might be a very different story. The cast is other than Roger Moore is relatively unknown and the acting is the typical early 70’s full of forced emotions and actions, so don’t expect too much from this. It’s Ok for a late Sunday afternoon flick when all the housework is done and a relax on the couch is in order. After all…Roger Moore is in it!
