Run Ronnie Run
I’m not really sure why this was made as a movie let alone sold as a DVD. Unfortunately I think this one is at real risk of becoming a drink coaster on my coffee table. Ronnie Dobbs is an habitual small time criminal. The police waste a lot of time; arresting Ronnie then getting Ronnie sobered up and back out on the streets in time to be arrested again. Terry Twillstien is a failed infomercial actor with no career or prospects who is searching for someone or something to give him a big break into Hollywood.
Terry gets a brilliant idea one day when his path crosses with Ronnie’s. The cops are arresting Ronnie again and Terry thinks Ronnie’s constant arrests it would make “great TV viewing”. Terry takes up his camera and follows Ronnie like a stalker on speed. Before too long Ronnie is not only on the run from the law but from his Hollywood fan’s as well.
This DVD suffers from a plot that lacks any storyline and fails to make up for it in any other area. I didn’t find much entertainment here and in fact was bored with the pitiful attempt of humour only a few minutes into the film. This DVD is full of small-minded toilet humour, (the type 13-year-old boys find hilarious), but it failed to amuse on any level. There were just too many stereotypical plastic characters doing choreographed stunts (mostly in their undies), and nearly every scene needed too much concentration from the viewer to work out who was who and what was going on. Ronnie ends up in the most improbable situations that constantly left me shaking my head. The humour and acting came across as forced and this also subtracted from the movie. Not a movie you would want to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, this is not one I would recommend, mainly because the only people who would find it entertaining are teenagers that are too young to watch this type of movie!
