Well I don’t know what it is about Hi-5 but kids just love it. This fast paced DVD is full of action and adventure and will hold a young child’s attention right until the end. There are 5 members of the Hi-5 band and they spend 56 (highly annoying) minutes of pure children’s entertainment on this DVD. I am constantly amazed at the popularity of Hi-5. The obvious lack of talent means nothing to small children, and the condescending way they speak to the audience is not an issue, whatever the formula, it works beautifully well and whilst I am slightly ashamed to admit it, all four of my kids LOVE Hi-5. (how embarrassing!)

The scenes in this DVD are highly orchestrated and the music whilst catchy is really just more of the same. The DVD follows the same genre as all their other Hi-5 DVD’s~ making it predictable but in the world of children’s entertainment that is not such a bad thing. Each member of the band has a little segment just with them on it and then the 5 combine for group songs and activities. The DVD is broken up with little interludes of animation and of footage of kids at play; this fast pace meets the need of a child with low attention span.

Probably the most ridiculous segment on this is Tim dressed up a Elvis (like any pre school kid would know who that was…) but I will try to spare you any actual details in the hope of not putting you off before you try this. Thank god we don’t all have to enjoy what our kids like.

If your kids like Hi-5 then this is one of the better ones I have seen recently, and value for money ( did I really say that?) but don’t make the fatal mistake of only having one Hi-5 DVD because your kids will play it so much you will long for the day your DVD player breaks!

THE EXTRAS

Oh the usual dribble found on all Hi-5 DVD’s is unfortunately available here. Karaoke (a special favourite of mine is kids belting out a Hi-5 tune in the lounge room..not!) But I have to admit they do love it..Damn Damn Damn!

The menus are fantastic and so user friendly to give credit where it’s due the guys that put the Hi-5 DVD together do a fantastic job on the Menus and special features.
