Tarzan and Jane

Disney have the animation game all sewn up - they really do this well and “Tarzan and Jane” is another fine example of the skill and ability of the people who work at Disney. The story of Tarzan Lord of the Jungle continues and Jane is busy preparing for their first wedding anniversary. Jane wants a huge party with lots of guests but her friends are sure this will not be what Tarzan wants.

Tarzan is uncomfortable in the society that Jane is used too and he usually makes a fool of himself when anyone else is around. Saddened that they are probably right Jane decides not to go ahead with the planned party. What she doesn?t know is that Tarzan may be planning something even bigger to celebrate the best year of his life.

Jane is really surprised to find Robert, an old friend from England, turn up at her tree house one day and is so happy to be back in touch with him that she doesn?t realise that Tarzan is insanely jealous of her old friend. Robert has come to collect a decoding machine that he hid in Jane’s jewellery box before she went to Africa and he also takes Jane with him to keep her quiet. Tarzan?s instincts prove to be correct and when Robert reveals that he is a double agent and tries to kill Jane, Tarzan must try to rescue her.

All the characters from the original Tarzan Animation return for this hit movie. Jane’s excentric father and the animals of the Jungle combine to make this an interesting story with enough familiar characteristics to enthral all young Tarzan fans. The story is fast paced and there is plenty of action. With so much happening it is the type of DVD that will get watched over and over again and small children will not tire of it. My 3 year old really loved this and she has watched it so many times that she knows the words to the theme song. The animation is brilliant and the picture clarity is exceptional, just what you would expect from Disney.

I have said it many times; Disney is always a safe bet to purchase for children, they have a magic formula that just seems to work for family entertainment. The sound is clear and if you are lucky enough to have the type of DVD player that has extra sound features this is a good DVD to try it out on. Highly recommended.

THE EXTRAS

Well the usual feast of extras is included here- Disney have set a benchmark with bonus features - that others will judge themselves on.

There is a game called “Build Your Own Tree House” ? Household items from the story are pictured on the screen and able to be manipulated by using the remote control. This was fun, but it depends on the individual child as to how much they will enjoy this feature - my 3 year old enjoyed it but my 6 year old found it had no challenge and was bored with it after the first game.

“Tarzan & Jane’s Adventure Builder” is a ?choose your own ending? type of story - the kids are able to navigate a choice of ending. This was a great idea and really enhanced the DVD. My kids enjoyed playing with this feature.

Music video of ?The Song of Life?- the theme song from Tarzan. What can I say it is a music video!
