Bill and Ted
This was such a hit movie in the late eighties and I must admit it is one of my all time favourites. I watched this DVD with my 9-year-old son and he loved it too. Bill and Ted are two teenage boys who have started a band and are hoping to make it big in the music world, but they have a few obstacles to overcome before they make it. Bill?s father is married to one of his school friends, (and Bill & Ted have the hots for her). Ted?s father wants him to go to military school and is going to send him if he fails this year at school. They are both failing history and neither of them can play a musical instrument. Despite all of this Bill is certain that with the right music video clip, they will be able to launch the their band called the ?Wyld Stallions? and their music career.
One fateful day at school the two boys are told that their grades are so bad that if they don?t get an A+ on their History assignment they will be failed for the whole year in every subject. Bill and Ted do not place much importance on learning and cruise through life with little effort. They are underachievers and proud of it!
They head to the mall for some inspiration and are shocked to find a visitor from the future who tells Bill & Ted that they must pass history in order to form the band, in order to get famous, in order to change the entire future of the world with their music. The two boys travel back in time with Rufus a man from the future, Rufus explains how to use the time machine and leaves them to it. Bill & Ted get this excellent idea to bring back famous figures from history to be a part of their history presentation. The movie follows their travel through time and their quest to get back in time to save their academic careers.
This is hilarious! Bill and Ted?s laidback attitude to life, the universe and everything is exquisitely funny and the two characters are so endearing. Both boys lack in parental attention but seem to be none the worse for it. Despite appearing really stupid, the two boys have some great sayings and come up with some really funny views. The use of clever language adds to the movie and the acting standard is quite high for a comedy. This is a movie I could happily watch over and over again and I?m so happy it is on DVD, so you can access the great sound and clear picture. This one is definitely a movie to add to the home collection and is great for the whole family.
