Bugs
A policeman?s mutilated body is found in the newly built subway and the autopsy reveals some disturbing facts. The medical examiner is left a puzzling trail of evidence that make her believe that the killer was a giant bug. The police are keen to find out exactly what is in the tunnel and they request the builder of the underground train service to hand over it?s plans of the building. The builders are loathe to co-operate, believing that the police are scare mongering.
After a train full of passengers are killed and their bodies mutilated beyond recognition, the builders are forced to admit that they will need to do something. The director of the company agrees to send a heavy-duty self-navigating train and a crew down the tunnel with the police. As they approach the site of the giant bugs they become aware of the enormity of the problem and they are forced to run for their lives. These bugs have the potential to kill the entire population if they escape from the tunnel and the experts are still not even sure how to kill them effectively. After experiencing heavy losses they decide to fight the giant bugs head on and bomb the tunnel with a huge train full of explosives. They realise that whilst they might lose many men in the struggle, it was better than letting these bugs out of the tunnel.
They have to fight the bureaucracy the to get approval for anything and the head of the company that built the tunnel and train line is corrupt so it?s an up hill battle all the way. The police find themselves asking how many people will have to die before these bugs can be stopped?
This is a thriller, there?s lots of action and creepy bugs, heaps of gratuitous blood and guts scenes and whilst it?s not my cup of tea, it wasn?t a bad way to spend 90 minutes. The plot is simple and there is a sound story line that is easy to follow, the characters are credible and the acting in this film is unexpectedly good. The sound was wonderfully clear and the picture was the usual high standard that we have come to expect from DVD?s. I like to have a cross section of entertainment and DVD?s like this one are usually reasonably priced, so it?s a great way to build up an extensive collection.
THE EXTRAS
The are no extra’s on this, which is to be expected of a budget disc.
