I ll Be There

The story of Olivia (played by Charlotte Church), who has been brought up by her mother and Grandfather. Olivia?s mother has always told Olivia that her father was a Russian soldier and died in the cold war. But Olivia struggles to understand her mother?s motives, when she learns that her father is very much alive and is the famous singer Paul Kerr (played by Craig Fergusson). Paul Kerr is living the high life, he has; heaps of money, nothing to do, and all day to do it.

After a pretty big night of drinking, Paul rides a motor bike through a plate glass window and out the balcony of a 2nd floor window, nearly killing himself. By the time he gets to hospital, the doctors are worried that he might be suicidal and decide to have him committed. When Olivia?s mother hears that Paul is suicidal she decides it?s time Olivia knew the truth (before it?s too late).

Olivia has always has a hidden dream to be a famous singer, she has the perfect voice and all she needs is a little help. Her mother is dead against the idea. Olivia?s grandfather is an aging rock star and so is her father and Olivia?s mother does not want this type of life for her daughter. She has seen first hand how it takes you from your family and can spoil your life. Olivia?s mum is a successful hairdresser and thinks Olivia should join her in the salon when she finishes school.

Olivia meets Paul Kerr and they instantly hit it off. Olivia can see why her mother fell for him 16 years ago, but the fun really starts when Paul hears Olivia sing and knows she should be joining the family business ? not hairdressing - singing. With all the crazy antics and carry on that you would expect from an aging rocker, this movie has some really funny moments. Charlotte Church is great and she brings a real light-heartedness to the movie. The setting is a magnificent country estate and the sound track is pretty good too. The plot is a little predictable and at times it?s corny, but it holds together and makes this a great movie for those times when you don?t want to think or be confronted. I was in a real ?just entertain me while I sit here? mood when I watched this and it hit the spot perfectly. This is a great DVD to own the picture quality is fab and so is the sound. So if your DVD player does all the enhanced features stuff, try it out with this one.

THE EXTRAS

Audio commentary ? Just the usual blah, blah, blah, that you get on an audio commentary ? I?m not really sure why they still do these?

Deleted scenes and expanded scenes. ? these are great , they give extra insight into where the movie was heading before budget and time restraints got to it.

Out takes ? I just love outtakes, most of these were just the actors laughing at them selves but there are a few funny moments ? well worth a look.

Cast & crew Filmographies - a detailed resume of what everyone was doing in the past.

Theatrical trailer ? the whole movie in two minutes!

Nothing too spectacular ? these features are really the type of stock standard features we would expect to find on a DVD
