Barbie in The Princess and the Pauper

A long ago two baby girls were born in a kingdom at exactly the same time. One baby girl was born to a poor family and the other was the royal princess who was to grow up in the castle. The two girls led such different lives; Erika became an indentured apprentice dressmaker and worked hard making dresses for Madam Carp and Princess Annalise learnt all there was to being a great Princess. They were destined never to meet until one fateful day - When they met and realised they looked exactly the same except for the colour of their hair and a small birthmark on the Princess’s shoulder.

The Royal mine had run out of gold and the kingdom was doomed unless they found some more money for their people. The wise queen had an idea - she would ask the King Dominique from another Kingdom to marry her daughter and join Kingdoms, but the Queen didn?t know that Plemenger her royal advisor had been stealing the gold from the mine and wanted to marry the princess himself so he could be King.

Plemenger kidnapped the princess and told the queen she ran away so she wouldn?t have to marry the king. The Royal Tutor Julian sensed that something was wrong and enlisted the help of Erika - she would pretend to be the princess until Julian could find Princess Annalise and return her to the kingdom. Plemenger?s evil was widespread and when Julian discovered the plan he captured Julian too and locked him in a mine. Now it is left completely up to Erika to convince everyone she is the Royal Princess so the kingdom can be saved.

This is a timeless tale retold brilliantly, The Barbie series of Fairy tales seem to be just getting better and better. The colour and animation create a world that young girls just can?t wait to escape into. This is a grand tale of; Princesses, Evil masters, and brave knights in shining armour to save the day. The story is a musical style story and there are 6 fantastic songs scattered throughout the movie, to fill in the missing details and enhance the story.

I watched this with my two girls aged 4 and 5 and we all loved it! They were spell bound throughout the movie, this is perfect entertainment for young girls. The picture was beautifully clear and the sound was wonderful, (make sure you try out the songs on the surround sound!)

Don?t be without this one in your home collection, the story is simple with lovable characters (each of the main characters has a pet as well) and fabulous music the whole package is a ?must have? for all wannabe Princesses.
