Cat Woman
Mmmmmm starring Benjamin Bratt, so of course this is a really cool movie! Halle Berry is Patience a young talented artist in a dead end job with no social life or any opportunity for career advancement. Her boss is a self-centred arrogant pig and he treats all his staff appallingly badly. Patience works for a leading cosmetic company that is on the verge of releasing a new face cream guaranteed to make you look years younger. The bosses of this company will stop at nothing to ensure the launch goes ahead on time and Patience is even expected to work over time for free to ensure the success of the launch.
Patience?s life is changed one day when she tries to save a cat that was stuck on a high window ledge, she gets stuck on the ledge too and is in danger of falling to her death when a police officer named Tom Lone (played by Benjamin Brat) is passing by and happens to see her. Tom saves her from the ledge and invites Patience to coffee.
Patience is already running late for work and declines, agreeing to meet the handsome officer the next day.
Throwing her self into her work for the rest of the day; Patience is stunned to look at the clock and realise it is well past 6 pm and she has missed the courier deadline for the art work she has been doing; her only option is to deliver the art work to the studio herself. When she arrives at the studio Patience overhears serious allegations being made by the scientists who made the new face cream, when they realise she has overheard them, the businessmen chase her into a water tunnel and she drowns.
Patience is revived by a cat who magically gives her new life (and new powers). Suddenly Patience is a new woman - a cat woman! When she awakens the next day in her flat she is astounded at how different she has become and sets about trying to find out the truth. Patience enjoys a freedom very few experience; she says and does what she pleases, but Patience is not too sure if she likes the new assertive woman she has become. Patience will have to decide if she will embrace the life of a cat woman at the risk of loosing her old life and Tom her wonderful boyfriend.
This is a simple movie with an easy flowing plot and very little thinking is required to enjoy this DVD. Halle Berry and Benjamin Bratt are fantastically matched together and both have a great on-screen presence that adds to an electric atmosphere. There is medium level violence contained in the movie and the story is essentially an adult based theme. My boys aged 8 and 10 loved it! Catwoman is the ultimate split personality, good sometimes and very very bad. Set in an American city the sets have been well planned, there a great action/ fight scene with Cat Woman & Officer Lone fighting in a theatre amongst many moving objects. The special effects are fabulous and the sound quality was great. I had this pumping through the surround sound up high and it added a real atmosphere to the lounge room. The picture quality was crystal clear and watching a movie like this you get a real feel for why DVD is so superior to Video.
This movie probably won?t stand up to heave artistic scrutiny and it is fundamentally a light weight ?happy movie? but it makes a great escape on a lazy weekend and is the perfect movie for a mid week pick me up. For astute collectors of DVD?s this is a great movie to own and you will probably be able to pick it up quite cheaply at the usual good quality DVD shops and Dept stores.
