This movie had a really lovely story to it but occasionally I lost interest. Johnny Depp is the infamous Don Juan, the greatest lover of all but unfortunately finds himself in an American psychiatric ward being questioned about his sanity by Dr Jack Miller played by Marlon Brando. With ten days left till retirement Dr Miller tries to convince his boss and possibly himself that Don Juan is not who he thinks he is. Unfortunately Don Juan’s view on life has Dr Miller very interested and soon becomes lost in his world. Is he really the man he claims? Could one man really have slept with 1502 women, in one lifetime? He does have the charm, all the nurses are happy to accompany him to the doctors office and will just be passing by in one hour to pick him up. His stories sound ridiculous. His father teaches him how to fight with a sword. He is brought as a slave for a Middle Eastern King’s wife and turned into a sex toy. He washes up on a desert island. He is lost though, in a focused world intent on finding his first and true love. Is he living in the twenty-first century or is he living in a created world found in a book? It doesn’t take Dr Miller long to start treating his wife like a godess and starts to believe that maybe he is the great man himself, Don Juan.

Only special feature, a theatrical trailer. Always interesting to watch maybe after the movie, it makes it more enjoyable.

CONCLUSION

When a man claiming to be the great Don Juan tries to commit suicide, the psychiatric ward are not long to commit him. Unfortunately his psychiatrist has a whole new world opened up to him and his soon to be retirement doesn’t seem like the end anymore, but a whole new beginning.
