Mulan 2
For anyone new to Mulan?here is a quick!!! Recap; Mulan is a little Chinese girl, she lives at home with her parents and all they want from her is for Mulan to be acceptable to the matchmaker and have a husband picked for her. Chinese girls can bring their family honour by marrying well and being a ?lady?. The Chinese people certainly do not honour women who are strong and brave like Mulan, so she is a constant disappointment to her family. When the Emperor conscripts one man from every family, Mulan decides her father is too sick and old to go to war and she disguises her self as a man & goes in his place; and saves China along the way.
In Mulan two the story continues, Mulan has returned home a hero and young girls all over China want to be like Mulan. Mushu, Mulan?s guardian Dragon is unbearable, the ancestors would gladly destroy him if they could, and he too has returned home a hero and loves his new place at the top of the ancestral tree.
General Shang, Mulan?s true love wants to marry her, and the celebrations are in full swing when Mushu realizes that; with Mulan married General Shang?s guardians would take over the top job and Mushu would become nothing again. Mushu plans to keep the happy couple apart as long as possible.
Mulan and General Shang have a mission to complete for the emperors, they must escort three Chinese princesses across the country to their weddings. The Princesses do not want to marry and are heartbroken at the thought of being virtually sold to someone in order to keep peace in China. Once again, Mulan is torn between what is right and what is expected.
This is a beautiful movie and a fantastic sequal, cleverly introducing new characters whilst keeping the old familiar ones. The story is simple and easy to follow yet the depth of the characters adds a dimension to the movie rarely seen in animation. Disney is so unbelievably good at story telling and ?Mulan Two? is another grand addition to any home collection. The colour and brilliantly clever animation and sound enhance this DVD and: like all Disney, quality is not compromised or limited just because it?s a kid?s movie. The picture is in an aspect of 16:9 Transferred dual layered format (for everyone who wants to know the technical stuff) and the sound is the ever-extraordinary Dolby Digital.
The movie runs for just over 70 minutes and is great vale for money; you?ll probably be able to pick this up at most good music stores or department stores for a song before Xmas. Introduce your kids to Mulan first, so they will know all the characters. My kids loved this movie so much and it has been watched over and over since we got it! (Thank goodness for long lasting DVD that can stand up to the challenge of kids playing it to within an inch of its life).
