Barbie in Fairytopia
Alina enlists the help of a other magical creatures such as a giant flying caterpillar and her cute little flying pet called Bibble, together they must travel through out Fairytopia to find a special fairy that can help them find the hideout of the evil witch and break her enchantment over Fairytopia.
This is one of Barbie?s greatest adventures and the detail in both the story and animation is fabulous. The makers of the Barbie range of DVD?s certainly know their stuff and each DVD is getting better than the last. My girls aged 4 and 6 loved this movie they escaped into the magical fairy kingdom and enjoyed every minute of this DVD not just the feature film but also the bonus features as too. I have two boys aged 7 and 10 and they enjoyed this movie too (although I doubt they would admit it to anyone. ?Shhhh!) ? However it really is a fine family movie and one that is suitable for all younger children.
This screening was a much anticipated ?event? in our house- We have the entire set of Barbie DVD?s and have been looking forward to Fairytopia since we first saw the preview on the Barbie in the Princess and the Pauper DVD, and of course what little girl wouldn?t love a story that included Barbie and fairies? What a Fab combination! The colour in this DVD is magical ? each of the seven guardians in the movie have a colour of the rainbow and the colour was vibrant! I have a DVD player that is about two years old and it didn?t struggle to display any of the colour of ?atmosphere? in this movie- the sound was crisp and clear we had the TV on through the surround sound and stereo so we enjoyed a real entertainment treat.
DVD has crested an expectation of excellence for consumers & it?s really great to get companies now that do not skimp on quality just because it?s for kids ? my kids really do appreciate the quality of picture & sound and tend to notice it more when it?s not present. My two girls now want to take the disc over to a friend?s house and watch it in their home theatre! Because & I quote ?This Barbie movie would be even better on a bigger screen!? The movie is a feast for imagination, fairies, magical creatures, and loads of friends just waiting to be discovered ? add this one to your home collection; it will make a fabulous gift and is just about guaranteed to be one of the favourites for any young girl.
Only problem now is ?..we can?t wait to see the new Barbie movie- Barbie in Pegasus the previews showed flying horses and princesses sleeping in the clouds and sparked imagination all over again. So now we are back to waiting for a Barbie movie release- some time toward the end of the year.
THE EXTRAS
Well first of all the easy to use & quick menu is a feature on it?s own- Barbie explains what to do & my 4 year old was able to navigate with out help through this whole Menu ( I love that!!!)
Previews ? As I said above the story of Barbie in Pegasus & a quick look at the other fantastic Barbie Movies- Barbie in Swan Lake, Barbie in the Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie in the Princess and the pauper. These are quality stories and great DVD?s & with DVD?s being so reasonably priced now is the perfect time for girls to collect the whole series.
Boogie with Bibble ? Choose between different styles of dance-from Classical Ballet to Hip Hop, and then choose the order in which Bibble will dance the steps- this was a bit laborious (but then I?m a tad older than the designated audience) and the end result was a little creature called Bibble dancing on the screen for approx 1 minute - my 4 year old was pretty chuffed that she could get it to work.
Favourite scenes selection ? choose you favourite scene and the movie will start plaing from there.
Subtitles-
Not many features for this movie even though the list looks impressive basically all you get is the dance moves ? but these were applauded by the intended audience.
CONCLUSION
Well I have arguably the two biggest ?Barbie? fans alive living at my house so you can just imagine how excited they were to be watching the ?new Barbie movie? and I have to admit that Fairytopia lived up to all expectations. The story is about Alina (played by Barbie) a young wingless fairy that is teased and tormented because she has no wings. The other fairies think Alina is useless and many refuse to have anything to do with her. All Alina wants is to have wings and be like everyone else. Everything changes for Alina when an evil magical witch kidnaps the seven guardians of Fairytopia. Alina is the only hope left for Fairytopia; Alina must free the captured guardians and restore Fairytopia, all without the use of wings. Alina knows that her friends will help, even the friends she hasn?t met yet!
