Ella Enchanted

Wow is there anything Ane Hathaway can?t do? Perfect for anyone who loves a great chick flick with a fab story. This is a disc that will have pride of place in my home collection for a long time!

Ella is born is in an enchanted kingdom to simple parents, her life should have been perfect, until a wayward but well intentioned fairy god mother gave Ella the gift of obedience. Poor Ella is destined to be the pawn of anyone who works out her secret curse. Ella?s mother died when she was quite young and life is anything but simple for Ella and her father. Just when Ella is getting on with her life things take a turn for the worse, Ella?s father decides to remarry and Ella inherits an ugly stepmother and two ugly stepsisters.

It?s not too long before Ella?s stepsisters have worked out the curse and are using it to their advantage. The kingdom Ella lives in is undergoing tough times also and Ella is wanting to bring about social change and hopefully end the rule of an unjust prince (who is soon to be crowned King! But when Ella meets the prince in person she soon discovers that he too is being pushed around by bossy and unjust relatives.

Ella decides it?s time to find her fairy godmother and remove the curse she teams up with elves ogres and fairies on her quest and even enlists the help of the prince. Will her meddling relatives team up with the prince?s uncle and ruin her change of a happy ever after?

This Movie is FUN!!! Lots of slap stick and great lines, teamed up with well-timed facial expressions, great costumes and magical sets. I?m a real sucker for a romantic comedy and this is one of the best ones I have seen for a while. Filmed in Ireland, the set is spectacularly beautiful, and the characters have a depth and reality that is rare in a fantasy movie. The cast is a real blend of actors from all over the world and they all work wonderfully together to create the perfect enchanted world. The script has been so well written and the dialogue flows in a natural progression none of the scenes are forced or unnatural.

This DVD is a must have for anyone and if you like the Cinderella story then this will fit in to your collection beautifully. Running for just over 90 minutes and complete with brilliantly crisp clear Dolby sound, this DVD completed the transition from the big screen to the small with out any loss of quality. The music in this movie is spectacular a few old songs re-born and towards the end of this movie I was struggling not to break out & sing along! It?s rare to find a good family movie that adults and kids will both enjoy but this movie fits the bill perfectly. Add this to your home collection.

THE EXTRAS

Audio commentary ? all the usual blurb from the cast & crew on what they were trying to achieve and how the scenes panned out. This sort of thing is really only attractive to the die-hard movie buffs but if you are keen there is some fun stuff in here to.

Deleted scenes-

These 6 scenes add to the movie and give a bit more character depth to the step sisters and step mother, and of course and alternate longer ending, fun stuff make your way round here if you get this DVD.

Prince Charmont?s fan club.

This has some fun games to play in a twist on the ?memory pairs? games players have to try to remember which squares have fans in them and help Prince Charment make his way through the maze.

The magical world of Ella Enchanted-

This is a 30 min documentary on the ?making of? Ella and is a fun look at how they made each character and who played it. This gives a good insight into the actual movie and the cast.

Music Video

It?s not just Make Believe? performed by Kari Kimmel This song was written especially for the movie and is not only a great song but also a fantastic film clip.
