Good Boy
Owen?s parents are home renovators, they buy a house and spend all their time doing it up and as soon as it?s perfect they sell it and move to another one. Subsequently Owen (played by Liam Aiken) is not your average 10-year-old boy, he?s a bit isolated and lonely, although he loves dogs and he has built up a successful dog walking round each day that keeps him too busy to make friends anyway. Owen?s life changes permanently when his dad (played by Kevin Nealon) finally gives in and lets him get a dog from the pound. Owen chooses Hubble & has only had the dog 1 day when he realises the dog is not your average dog- Hubble the do can; fetch, sit, beg, play dead and best of all he can talk- no just bark Hubble can really talk- Owen asks Hubble all the burning questions like why dogs circle their pillows before sleeping, and the two of them seem to be set for a perfect happy life together.
Then the next morning Hubble explains he is from outer space and is here to report on Earth dogs. Hubble explains to Owen that if the Earth Dogs are not ruling the world (as they are supposed to be) they will be recalled to the mother Dog planet. Owen and the dogs from his walking round set about to prove to Hubble that they rule the world; humans groom them, humans feed them and of course you never see dogs picking up their own poop in the park, but will this be enough to prove to the master planet that dogs rule the world?
This is a great kids movie, the plot is simple but it contains enough characters and some really clever sub plots. The dogs all talk and this has been really well done, with voices that match the dogs perfectly. There is a great cast of voices including Matthew Broderick, Brittany Murphy, and Delta Burke. The setting is in the streets suburban USA and the cast of extra?s that play the neighbours have done an exceptional job of creating a ?real street? with real characters. This is a fun movie, my kids really enjoyed it I have 4 kids aged 4 to 10 and they all sat and watched this quietly one Saturday afternoon. There are heaps of laughs to be had and loads of really great on liners. The picture quality was fabulous and the sound was the usual brilliantly clear crisp Dolby surround sound, everything you would expect from a recent release DVD.
With a great story and good characters, this DVD is perfect for any lazy afternoon of DVD viewing this is a great DVD to add to the home collection.
