The Incredibles

Directed by Brad Bird.

John Lassiter and his dazzling team cement their position at the top with the release of this brilliantly entertaining movie. Brought to you by the pure magic of a partnership between Disney and Pixar. This partnership has produced arguably the best movies made in the last five years and the Incredibles would have to be in the top 3!

Mr. Bob Parr (A.K.A Mr. Incredible) lives a quiet unfulfilling and mediocre life, but he still remembers the ?good old days? when he and his wife Helen used to be super heroes. Bob longs for his former life, before the craziness of litigation made the job unsustainable and the superheroes of the world were forced into a ?witness protection? style of hiding. The citizens of the world have turned their back on the superheroes; they maintain that the superheroes and their super powers are not welcome in the ?new? world. The superheroes, whilst not happy about the decision to forcibly retire them, accept the decisions and the world moves on.

Bob is lost in his life, and lacks direction, so his curiosity is more than a little roused when he receives a secret invitation to help the ?American Government? reclaim a newly developed war machine. Bob Parr squeezes himself back into his Mr. Incredible suit and sets of to ?save the world & be home in time for dinner?, forgetting of course to let his wife and family know. Mr. incredible has walked into one of the oldest traps in the book and is in grave danger.

Luckily Mr. Incredible is not married to an ordinary girl and he hasn?t got an ordinary family and it?s not too long before Helen Parr AKA ?Elastigirl? and her ?special? kids are on the way to the rescue of a lifetime. Mr. and Mrs. Incredible soon learn that although their life is mediocre their kids are far from it, and this mission will need the help of the whole family.

Like any good Disney Pixar story ?The Incredibles? is jam packed with; clever characters an interesting plot, brilliant acting, a terrific sound track with memorable one-liners, and computer generated graphics and pictures that are second to none in the industry. What can I say? Just when you think they can?t get any better these guys do exactly that- and in the process they raise the bar just that little bit higher! I know I rave on and on about Disney/Pixar but can anyone to create a better family entertainment disc? These guys are really setting the standard and as consumers we are reaping the benefits over and over again.

The plot is brilliant, the picture quality is outstanding, the graphics are spectacular - all this coupled with the Dolby surround sound and an entire disc of mind blowing ?bonus features? this is a DVD that belongs in any good home collection and no home collection is complete without it.

Don?t make the mistake of dismissing this as a ?kids? movie, sure kids will LOVE this, (Mine did! Aged between 4 and 10 they sat transfixed for the entire show then proceeded to work their way through the bonus features for the next hour.), but this is a movie for the whole family. Do yourself and your family & friends and huge favour and take this home soon!

Rating 5 PLUS!!!!!

THE EXTRAS

Disc one has:

The feature complete with commentaries - if you have the time this is a great feature - I usually find these commentaries totally boring but this one is great! Well worth the time to listen to this, as they guys at Disney/Pixar spend their time explaining the ?who, what, why, when and how? of this movie.

A great into to the movie watch this first it will ?set the atmosphere? for first time viewers.

Disc two:

Intro ? a few quick flicks as Disney/Pixar show off and show us what they can do - just because they can!

Jack-Jack Attack - ever wondered just what powers Jack-Jack did in fact inherit? & Just why was the baby sitter freaking out?

Deleted scenes ? these are great and there is also an alternate beginning to the show, this gives a totally different twist on this movie - oh if only we didn?t have time limits - what great movies we would see!

Documentary making of style features -

Behind the scenes ? meet the cast crew and pure genius of the people behind this movie.

And what disc would be complete with out outtakes? Well done PIXAR! This is my favourite bit make sure you don?t miss these!

Bounding the short flick from Pixar - more of Pixar showing off ? these guys are great, may they show off forever! This quick flick is about a proud little lamb who thought he was ?the best ?until the eventual and unavoidable shearing day and just when he thinks all is lost along comes a little rabbit to teach him that it?s what?s inside that really matters.

This flick comes complete with audio commentary and behind the scenes stuff. (a virtual mini DVD movie in a movie!)

Animated commentary and NSA files etc. complete this bonus disc and the ?nothing is too much trouble? motto that Disney is becoming famous for is evident in these features.

When you buy this disc, even if you have seen the movie, make sure you take a trip to disc two & the features ? the best is yet to come!
