Bewitched Series 2
The complete second series of Bewitched is now available on DVD; fans of this wonderful 1960?s icon will be pleased to revisit the home of Darrin and Samantha Stephens.
For anyone who has not seen this 1960?s sitcom TV series before (could there possibly be anyone in this category?) This was an extremely successful TV show; Samantha Stephens is a witch living in suburban America. In the first series she fell in love with Darrin a mortal man and married him, hoping their love would be strong enough to overcome their differences. Samantha and Darrin don?t exactly enjoy wedded bliss, with Witches and Warlocks dropping in and wreaking havoc, but it certainly is an interesting household.
Series 2 continues to share the magical mayhem with us; with a slight twist - Samantha finds out she is expecting their first baby and the question on everyone?s lips is not will it be a boy or a girl, but will it be a witch or a mortal? Over the 38 episodes the couple evolve from a newly married couple to a fully fledged family, complete with a beautiful baby girl named Tabitha. Samantha meets Darrin?s parents and Darrin meets some of the quirky members of Samantha?s family. Amidst all the chaos Darrin finds himself constantly in some form of trouble with the ?in laws? and Samantha has the unenviable task of keeping the peace between the two worlds.
This Six-Disc set includes every episode form series two. My kids had not seen this series before ? give them a break they are all under 10! And they LOVED it, there is something about this series that just gets you hooked in and keeps you captivated till the end. I watched this as a child on the TV and unlike some of the other series that have lost appeal over the years; Bewitched seems to have preserved its entertainment value.
Because the family evolves over time, and the characters are developing in each episode - it was great to be able to watch the episodes in order, and of course catch up on the very few episodes that I had not seen before! What a wonderful way to relax on a hot afternoon!
The picture and sound quality are brilliant, and considering the age of the show, I suspect some digital remastering has taken place. This is a DVD I highly recommend! There are lots of laughs combined with a good story and this is a series well worth adding to any home collection.
THE EXTRAS
I have yet to find the bonus feature of “Bewitched, Bewildered and BeBloopered” as 38 episodes is a lot to wade through ? but the disc does have interactive menu?s and subtitles.
