Straight form the wonderful imagination of Roald Dahl this timeless story has been delighting children (and Adults too) for over 30 years and this latest movie starring Johnny Depp is the best yet. Johnny Depp is brilliant as Willy Wonka the reclusive and troubled Confectioner who leads such a solitary existence that everyone is wondering what exactly goes on in his chocolate factory, no-one ever comes in or out of the building and yet there is always a ready supply of freshly prepared chocolate and lollies available for delivery to the candy stores of the world. The whole world is in awe of the famous chocolate maker whose marvellous confectionary is loved by everyone. But the mystery of the factory remains until one day Willy Wonka himself makes a startling announcement and proclaims that he will reveal all to the 5 lucky winners of his new and bizarre competition.

The competition is easy to enter you just have to purchase a Wonka Scrumdidliumptious bar and if you find a Golden Ticket you will be declared the winner. The 5 lucky winners along with one member of their immediate family will receive a guided tour of the mysterious factory and a life time supply of Wonka Chocolate. The world is a grip with Wonka Fever as sales of the Wonks bars skyrocket, and slowly the winners are revealed one by one. Last to find a golden ticket is Charlie Bucket; a young boy from a very poor family and all his dreams come true the day he finds the ticket and asks his Grandpa Joe to accompany him to the factory.

The Factory turns out to be a delight and Wonka reveals many of his secrets along the way, he secretly hopes to find someone to take over the factory when he dies and would dearly love to give his factory to one of the winning children if they are suitable. During the tour Willy Wonka also learns a little of the personality of the 5 winners and he soon realises that the children that won his competition are not the nicest children in the world and he may perhaps have to rethink his plan to find someone to leave his chocolate factory to.

Slowly and surely Charlie weaves his way into Willy Wonka?s hardened heart but will Charlie?s lovely personality be enough for him to win the ultimate prize??

This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time - we went to the cinema to see this when it was first released and it has been a favourite ever since. I have to admit that when I learned that Johnny Depp would be playing Willy Wonka I was hooked, and he is perfect in this role! The chocolate factory is a virtual treasure trove full of wonderfully exotic creations including everlasting gobstoppers chewing gum meals and of course the fabulous Oompah Loompah people brought to life as never before, and several times I found myself escaping into this wonderland of endless possibilities, this is a story that captivates its audiences and holds them right to the end.

My kids aged 5 to 10 sat spell bound throughout the entire movie and the bonus second disc and even though we have only had the discs for two days they have been played several times already! And if you believe it?s possible??this DVD is even better than the movie on the big screen, complete with bonus features and heaps of extras this is a DVD that no home collection will be complete without. Every child (even the grown up ones) needs to have this wonderful DVD.

THE EXTRAS

The bonus features are magical and a must see so make sure you take the time to wade through the massive choice of entertainment on offer here. If I write about all that is on offer here you will all have seen this DVD before I?m finished ? so I will rate it with the 5 it deserves and get you to rush out, buy this disc and enjoy it for yourself- but just to whet your appetite?.

If played on a PC the disc will install a great active player from Warner Bros to enhance the options for viewing and enjoying this disc. Install it on your PC it is FABULOUS!!!

Games video clips the; who, what, why, where, how, and when of the Movie ? so all your Questions will be answered and more and of course you will be entertained interactively like never before! Jammed packed with interviews from the cast and crew and lots of input from the animal trainers the animators and of course the director and actors.

Three terrific games to choose from in demo mode ? my kids had fun with all of theses sorting chocolate into the correct bins and remembering which Oompah Loompahs sang in order and of course navigating the glass elevator all over the chocolate factory ? it could take hours to get through all of these!!!

Learn the Oompah Loompah dance ? my two girls aged 5 and 6 loves this- lots of join in fun! The Oompah Loompah does his steps on screen and then the players are given a turn to try out there new moves!

The inventing machine- players choose flavours of syrup to try to produce the ?next big Winning Wonka Flavour? of course the Oompah Loompah?s will let you know if you have achieved this or not.

A quick flick on the author of the original book - Roald Dahl- all the things you ever wanted to know about him and the world he lived in. This is magical ? don?t miss this it includes interviews and narration from his family including his children & grand children retelling their wonderful memories of him.
