New World, The

thenewworld.jpgThis film from director Terence Malick is yet another retelling of the classic tale, Pocahontas and while the pace of the story seems to flag on occasion, the cinematography in this film is breathtaking.

Some people may find this film, like some of Malick’s other work to be more picture than plot but there is a certain something about this film that keeps you watching for the two and a bit hours it takes to tell the tale.

There aren’t a lot of extras on the DVD but the “Making The New Word” feature is good and well worth watching in its entirety.

Verdict: A grittier telling of a classic tale that’s worth adding to your collection.
