Firewall
Firewall stars Harrison Ford as Jack Stanfield, a computer security specialist working for a bank, who’s family is kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers know his life inside out and want $100 million in exchange for his family’s safe return.
Paul Bettany plays the villain brilliantly but Harrison Ford really seems like he’s just going through the motions in this film. Perhaps it’s time Ford got to play something beside the good natured family guy forced into a desperate situation.
I’m a bit of a sucker for this type of film and even if he seems to be a bit under his game, I’ve always enjoyed Harrison Ford’s films so while I cringed at the occasional computer impossibility (15 years in IT does that to you), I would still recommend this film to anyone interested in a medium paced action adventure.
Extras-wise, I though “Firewall: Writing A Thriller” was worth watching, but I wouldn’t buy the DVD just for that and the other two extras were more of the usual “we’re really talented and lucky to have worked on this” stuff that almost every DVD seems to include for the sake of filling up space on the disc.
Verdict: If you like Harrison Ford’s other films, you’ll like this one too.
