Planet Earth

This is another amazing offering from the BBC and of course narrated by David Attenborough. I watched most of this on TV and was happy to review this on DVD. The DVD states it is episodes 1-5 and I certainly hope there are more. The episodes here are Pole to Pole, Mountains, Fresh Water, Caves and Deserts. The cinematography is simply awesome and I imagine thousands of hours of footage were shot to make each episode. The film editors here also have to be congratulated for their craft. I am sure they got as excited as the camermen obviously did when they shot those “magic” moments.

There was loads of information on hand and it proves you are never too old to learn new things. I loved the monkeys in the water. They were playing just as people do. In I have to admit the peurile element in myself loved the “snottites” in the caves where there were streams of sulphuric acid rather than water. it was amazing to see where life can actually thrive in harsh conditions where humans would be unable to do so.

This series was absolutely fantastic and as a documentary I give it 5 out of 5.
