For those waiting for the local release of HD-DVD players, the Toshiba HD-E1 is now available in stores.

I rang some of the larger retailers in Victoria today and nobody had one in stock. In fact the sales guy at Harvey Norman checked and told me there weren’t any on order for any HN stores in the near future. he rang Castel and ordered me one in though, so I should have the player tomorrow (actually, Saturday because I’m working tomorrow..).

I find this a little weird because not only did they miss the Christmas buyers but now Toshiba have released a HD-DVD player a full month before any HD-DVDs are due to be released locally. Seems like a strange way to win over the public to me…
