Paramout/Dreamworks HD DVD deal includes US$150m of incentives


The New York Times has published an article confirming that Paramount were offered US$150 million in cash and advertising incentives in exchange for their HD DVD only move. They also noted that the exclusivity deal only lasts for 18 months.

FOX/MGM Confirm Support for Blu-ray


I’m not sure you’d call this news but in the wake of Paramount’s announcement about HD DVD, 20th Century Fox and MGM have issued a press release saying that they will be more aggressively marketing their Blu-ray only releases in the coming months.

Paramount Drop Support for Blu-Ray


In a surprise move, Paramount have decided to drop support for Blu-ray and will now be releasing exclusively on HD DVD.  So that’s titles like Shrek The Third and Transformers that we won’t be seeing on Blu-ray. Can’t say I saw that one coming…
