Happy New Year 2010

Hmmmmm… time flies when you’re having fun. Or when you’re really busy with other things in the real world.

It’s been a long time since I even visited a DVD or Blu-ray related site, let alone added anything to this one.

Over the site’s 12 year history it’s had various periods of stagnation and coming into 2010 I have time to invest back into it but I’m wondering if anyone really reads this sort of thing any more?

Any thoughts?

EzyDVD In Receivership

Love or hate EzyDVD it’s sad to see that that the retailer is now in receivership with trading losses of around $3 million over the last couple of years. The receivers say that the retail stores will continue to trade normally for the time being.

Kogan Region Free Blu-ray Player for AU$349

According to the website of budget electronics distributor Kogan, they have a region free Blu-ray player available for order from their online store. While it only supports BD Profile 1.1, being region free and relatively cheap makes it hard to beat.

In the early days of DVD it was the budget, region free players that really sold the format so hopefully this will be the one of many such Blu-ray players in the near future

Downloads, anyone?

The eventual demise of all DVD formats has been a constant theme over the last couple of years. Many people are predicting that Blu-ray has left it’s run to late for anyone to care.

Online DVD retailer EzyDVD seem to agree. They are in the process of launching a new site that will allow users to download their movies to either rent or buy. A site to watch I think.
